Romy Kühne

She's born the 4th juni 1987 in Rotterdam, grew up from her 3th month in the medieval city of Deventer. Here she followed her schools up to highschool.in the specialisation Culture and Society.
Then, in 2005,she selected Artez artschol in Arnhem. She preferred Arnhem because there, next to artistic expectations, the practical scholing in manufactoring seemed important.
By realisation of many assignments and using many techniques Romy devellopped as a multitalented designer. Haar vacuümformed, synthetic water-can, her sewed fabric bags, her stoneware jugs and her glued and hardened paper crockery are only a few examples of this; her portfolio shows many more
In all these designs and the making of them, she shows her feeling for material and design, pared to the wil to make them in real life..
In 2008 Romy followed an stage at Franke Elshout´s Fooddesign. Here she was confronted with the unknown world of fooddesign. In the portfolio you will find a FoodCabinet, a series of bottles "Evolution" and a series of bakeryforms "Schaal" that were made in this time. In the same period Romy participated, with Franke Elshout, in the exposition "Stuffed" during the Dutch Design Week in 2008.
For her graduationproject Romy chose exploration of the theme "Masstradition". By further development of techniques from the packagingindustry and connecting them to traditional eastern folding techniques she created her own formlanguage. With her paper crockery and vases she patiently balances on the border between maasproduction forms and unica.
